With Chamber Choir

I was talking to some high school students and one student asked me how she could manage to stay at her “peak,” meaning that if she had to play several auditions, her playing would get stale and she would begin making mistakes that she didn’t do before.

I explained to her that she just couldn’t rely on “finger memory,” but also had to listen to what she was doing without being distracted by random thoughts, even the ones that say, “I played that really well,” to “I really messed up that part.”
