About Laura
Laura was a prize recipient in two international piano competitions, The Robert Casadesus International Piano Competition (now Piano Cleveland) and the J.S. Bach International Piano Competition in Washington, D.C.
Her performing and teaching experiences are quite vast.
Laura was acting piano chamber music coach at The Cleveland Institute of Music on a number of occasions. She was also chosen by the United States Information Agency to tour and give master classes in South America and Australia with violinist Kathleen Winkler.
Laura has made four tours of China, most notably giving master classes at The Central Conservatory in Beijing and East China Normal University in Shanghai.
Her chamber music venues also include performing with the Audubon String Quartet in Weill Recital Hall and various players from The Cleveland Orchestra in Rhineberger Chamber Hall. In addition to string players, she has also toured with celebrated tuba players, Harvey Phillips, Patrick Sheridan and Alan Baer. She has played master classes for noted flutist, Paula Robison, and was chosen to be part of the 12 piano concert at Blossom Music Festival with Leonard Slatkin, conductor, playing in concert which included pianists Emanuel Ax, John Browning, and Yefim Bronfman.
She was the accompanist for The Cleveland Orchestra’s Musical Rainbow Educational Department Programs for over 35 years and was principal keyboard of the Blossom Festival Orchestra for many years.
Laura is an in-demand accompanist for Cleveland professional musicians, and has been rehearsal pianist for Pierre Boulez and Leonidas Kavakos, and played private auditions for Christoph von Dohnanyi and
Franz Welser-Möst. She has also been extra keyboard with The Cleveland Orchestra, playing with the orchestra in Severance Hall and Carnegie Hall.
She has held positions at The Cleveland Institute of Music, The University of Akron where she led Collaborative Piano Studies, and The College of Wooster. Her students have been accepted to several major conservatories in the country.
She studied at The Cleveland Institute of Music with Vitya Vronsky Babin of the internationally renowned duo-piano team, Vronsky and Babin. In addition, she had coaching with Grant Johannesen, with whom she did a documentary, and also Paul Schenly.
Laura maintains her private teaching studio while continuing to collaborate with distinguished musicians.
